A Book List for Yoga-Lovers

I was talking with a friend about a yoga book recommendation and looking through my yoga home library.  WHOA.  I have a ton of yoga-related books!  I give yoga book recs out on the regular, so I thought “wouldn’t it be nice to have a handy list on the blog for people to access?” There are thousands of yoga or yoga-related books, so this is BY NO MEANS an exhaustive list.  But it is a place to start and most of these are books I return to, time and time again.  That’s when you know it’s a good one! I also consulted my partner-in-crime, Gabe, for some of her favorites that were not on my list.

Ancient Yoga Texts:

Many of these are hard reads, not gonna lie!  But these are where lots of the teachings come from, so yoga nerds might want to check these out.  I recommend finding awesome translations (there are tons of Yoga Sutras’ translations, for example, that break it down so well) or teachers who know how to teach this stuff in bite-sized pieces (I am looking at you, Noah Maze the master of the Bhagavad Gita, as well as you, Theresa Murphy and Tias Little!)

The Bhagavad Gita

The Vedas

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras

Hatha Yoga Pradipika
