Pose of the Month: Vasisthasana
Vasisthasana, modeled here by Mary Pat, is a strengthening arm-balance in the lateral family. It takes an incredible amount of strength to balance on one arm with your whole body stacked top to bottom on its side. There are severals way to get into this pose, but a surefire way is to start in downward facing down. Shift forward to plank pose and flip all ten of your toes to the left. Then, push down more with your right hand and spin your torso from right to left as you lift your left arm up. From here, slide the left leg on top of the right leg to stack everything up. Continue to push the mat away, pull your navel to your spine and firm your legs together. Breathe! Come back through down dog and repeat on side two.
