Pose of the Month: Anantasana
Anantasana, modeled here by Gabe, is the infinity pose. Is that because it feels like it goes on forever? In this side-lying pose, the top half of the body tries to stay completely stacked on the bottom half of the body. It's deceiving because it looks super simple, but the wobble is real.
To get into this pose, lie down on your side and prop your head in your bottom arm with your arm in line with your ear. Then, make sure you are aligned in your heels, hips and shoulders like a side-lying tadasana or mountain pose. Lift your top leg, bend at the knee and grab for your big toe, outer foot or use a strap to connect the foot and the hand. Press the outer edge of your down-leg into the floor and extend the top leg straight. Draw your navel to your spine and keep rolling your bottom half forward as you take your top leg back. Breath and enjoy….is this over yet?
