Pose of the Month: Ardha Bhekasana
Ardha Bhekasana, modeled here by Sarah, is a backbend with a kickin' thigh stretch. Are you in the tight quad club? If so, this one is for you. This pose provides an incredible stretch to the top of the thigh and the front of the hip as well as the belly, chest and shoulder. Good stuff!
To get into this pose, lay on your belly and stack your hands. Rest your head on the back of your hands. Bend you right knee and reach back for your foot or ankle with your right hand. If you can't reach, you can wrap a strap around your foot to make it more accessible. You might just stay here with your head resting on your left hand, but if you have more space to stretch, push your left arm into the mat and lift your chest. The more you lift, the deeper the pose becomes. Stay for several long deep breaths, come down and rest for a few and then move to the left side.
