Teacher Spotlight - Stephanie

1. How did you come to practice yoga?
I initially started practicing yoga (in 2012) at home with DVDs, as a way to heal old injuries from years of playing sports. It wasn’t until much later that I began to understand that it was so much more than just moving my body.

2. When did you decide that you wanted to be a teacher? How long have you been teaching?
I decided to do teacher training in the Fall of 2018, as a way to learn more and really deepen my practice. At around the halfway mark, I started to really feel drawn to teaching. My teaching journey at One Tree began shortly after I completed teacher training with the ‘$5 dollar, holla!’ class in June of 2019.

3. What style(s) of yoga do you teach? What do you like about it/them?
I currently teach Hatha. I love teaching Hatha because it provides an opportunity to break down poses into their individual actions, with an extensive use of props.

4. What is your favorite pose? Why?
Currently my favorite pose is Setu Bandhasana (bridge pose). The space that it creates in the upper chest and front of hips feels so good!

5. What do you like to do when you’re not at yoga?
When I’m not at yoga I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Jarred and I have 4 boys: 2 bio- Ryland (8) and Brooks (5), and 2 bonus- Holden(20) and Pierce(15). They keep us super busy with sports and school activities. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, and baking.

6. Where can we find you on the One Tree Yoga schedule?
You can find me on the OTY schedule Thursday mornings West, at 9:15.
