Teacher Certification - 300 Hour

300-Hour Curriculum for 500 RYT Certification

This program is designed for teachers who currently hold an RYT 200 certification from Yoga Alliance. Those wishing to start from scratch are encouraged to enroll in and complete our 200-hour program first.

Trainees can complete the curriculum sequentially, as laid out below, or may choose to enroll one session at a time. The sessions will repeat every 12-18 months. This open-enrollment option allows trainees to complete the requirements as their schedules allow.

Our program is rooted in long-established yoga traditions, balancing genuine yogic philosophy with real-world practicality. Graduates will feel grounded in their knowledge, and empowered to craft practices in their own style.

This policy is intended to preserve the integrity of the program, to ensure that you receive an education that adheres to Yoga Alliance standards, and to give equal consideration to all students when granting certification. We understand that unexpected events may occur, and we will do our best to work with you to arrange alternative sources for contact hours. If you know in advance that you are otherwise engaged on a scheduled weekend, please consider taking the session the next time it is offered. The sessions will repeat every 12-18 months.

Our Teachers

Theresa Murphy's deepest intention in teaching yoga is to be a catalyst for discovering the wisdom and wonder of an embodied life. She is the primary teacher for Tias Little and the Prajna school, as well as an Insight Yoga teacher with Sarah Powers and mentor in the Insight Yoga Institute. Theresa wholeheartedly devotes herself to practice. With over 25 years of study and practice, plus 15 years of teaching, she has made her life’s work a balance of teaching the Yoga Dharma, caring for her ailing mother, and ongoing studies with additional influences: Amy Matthews, Patricia Walden, Jennifer Welwood, Joseph Goldstein, Scott Blossom, and Erich Schiffman. Her style of cross-pollinating traditions, re-mixed with her own sensitivities and insights, makes for potent experiences of embodiment, heart-mind expansion, and mental clarity. Theresa was one of the original founders of One Tree Yoga, where she led yoga teacher trainings for 7 years.

Alison King Tigges, ERYT-200 began her yoga practice in 2002 as a way to recover from injuries from years of sports and dance. Alison continued to practice and study under Theresa Murphy at One Tree Yoga while obtaining her undergraduate degree at UNL and graduate degree at UNO in criminal justice and public administration. She completed her teacher certification program in 2009.  Alison has been teaching since then and has continued her studies with many well-known teachers, such as Amy Matthews, Tias Little, Surya Little, Linda Spackman, Nicholai Bachman, and Noah Maze.

Alison completed her 500-hour certification with Tias Little’s Prajna Yoga in Santa Fe, NM. She is one of just a few teachers nationwide qualified to teach the Prajna Yoga training curriculum. She has also completed several training courses with Noah Maze, refining her teaching skills and methods for training teachers. Alison has led One Tree Yoga’s Teacher Certification Program since 2014.

Alison sees yoga as more than something to do. It is a way of being in the world. The physical postures and breath work on the mat, combined with time on the meditation cushion, prepare us to be ready for whatever life throws our way. Yoga can help us become more physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually aware and connected, living our practice day to day.

Gabe Hopp, ERYT-200 started practicing yoga in 2003 while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in music therapy from the University of Evansville. She continued that study in Omaha, under Theresa Murphy at One Tree Yoga, while she pursued her Master’s degree in musicology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Gabe received her 200-hour yoga teacher training in Prague, Czech Republic in 2010. Since then, she has trained extensively with master teachers throughout the United States including Tias and Surya Little, Rod Stryker, Ben Vincent, Christina Sell, and Amy Matthews.

Gabe has twice traveled to India to study with yoga masters A.G., Indra, and Ganesh Mohan in Chennai, India. She’s completed the first four modules of their 500-hour yoga therapy training. Gabe’s philosophy is that yoga is a life practice. One should view yoga practice with a broad scope to include meditation, prayer, chanting, singing, compassion in action, and breathing, as well as physical postures. Through a practice of yoga, we have the opportunity to discover our true nature and our purpose for being here (dharma). Most recently, Gabe has been co-leading OTY’s teacher training program, pursuing a 500-hour certification from Prajna Yoga, and leading kirtan.
